Program the robot.
Win the round.

Four weeks. One robot. Real math. You program a BBC micro:bit v2 with a Cutebot Pro chassis to compete in matches that don't move until you solve the math behind them.

THE CHALLENGE

Three phases. Twenty days. No exceptions.

PHASE 01 · WEEK 1

Build & learn

Allocate four stats — Speed, Endurance, Turning, Power — that set the math behind every match. Day 1 you have parts. Day 5 you have a robot ready to play.

→BBC micro:bit v2 + Cutebot Pro
→Stat-allocation system (S+E+T+P=20)
→Coordinate-grid navigation
PHASE 02 · WEEKS 2–3

Program & play

MakeCode block coding. The robot does what you tell it. The math tells you what to say. Two seasons of round-robin matches with pre-match prediction and post-match residual analysis.

→MakeCode editor
→Live data dashboard, every team
→You vote rule changes between seasons
PHASE 03 · WEEK 4

Compete

Community Exhibition where you teach the math to visitors. The arc ends with you as the authority.

→Final matches
→Best Teacher award (visitor-voted)

QUESTIONS

The ones you'll ask first.

No. Day 1 you don't. Day 20 you do. We teach what you need, when you need it. You'll spend more time arguing about math than typing.

Email us before, not after. One excused absence. Two and you forfeit your spot — the program is cumulative and missing two days breaks the math arc.

Teams are three students each, assigned on Day 1. Roles rotate weekly (Coder / Fabricator / Analyst). You can request a friend but no guarantees — half the work is figuring out new collaborators.

No. The camp is free, run by NYC FIRST and supported by XQ Institute Summer Sparks. Hardware is provided.

You keep your code, your stat card, your scouting report, and the math. The robot stays so the next class can build it.
