Day 5 · Challenge Block
The Budget Constraint
Understand the trade-off · Design loadouts · Calculate outputs · Adjust for Speed = 8
1 · Trade-Off 2 · Design 3 · Calculate 4 · Adjust
The Trade-Off
Every point you add somewhere must come from somewhere else
The Constraint
Speed + Endurance + Turning + Power = 20
Add 2 to Speed → remove 2 from somewhere else. Both sides always weigh the same.
Predict Before You See
Two Teams, Same 20 Points

Team Volt and Team Blaze each have 20 points. They made opposite choices. Team Blaze's Charge Speed is hidden — you'll predict it before it's revealed.

Team Volt
S=7 · E=5 · T=4 · P=4
Motor Power %35%
Power at t=177.5%

Turn Ratio0.28

Team Blaze
S=8 · E=2 · T=2 · P=8
Motor Power %40%
Power at t=173%

Turn Ratio0.24
Charge Speed???
Follow Through1600
Make your prediction

Team Volt: P=4 → Charge Speed = 16
Team Blaze: P=8 → Charge Speed = ?
Follow Through went 260 → 400 — a 1.54× increase, not a doubling. FT = 120 + (P×35) is linear-with-intercept: the 120ms baseline means doubling P does not double FT. Charge Speed uses a different formula again.

Team Blaze Charge Speed =
Design Your Loadouts
20 points, four stats — each number you add somewhere must come from somewhere else

All three totals must show 20 / 20 before you move on.

All Three Loadouts
Compare outputs side by side before the trade-off analysis
Formula Reference
Speed → Motor Power % = (S × 100) ÷ 20
Endurance → Power at t=1 min = 100 − (20 − E) × 1.5
Turning → Arc Segments = T  ·  Turn Ratio = 0.2 + (T × 0.02)
Power → Charge Speed = P²  ·  Follow Through = 120 + (P × 35)
All Three Loadouts — Side by Side

Look across each row. When Speed is the same in two loadouts but other outputs differ — what caused the difference?

Output Loadout 1 Loadout 2 Loadout 3
The Trade-Off
If Speed = 8, what are you giving up? Show every number.
The Question
Speed = 8 uses 8 of your 20 points. That leaves 12 points for Power, Turning, and Endurance combined. For each loadout: redistribute those 12 points, then recalculate all outputs. The answer is not "we give up 12 points" — it names which stat takes the reduction and what happens to that output.
